Camping in the Gardens of Stone 9 – 10 July 2019

I spent a pleasant two days on a camping trip in the Gardens of Stone with a group of friends. The party was Don, Elata, Rik, Digi Dave and Myself.

We drove out onto the Newnes Plateau to our intended camping spot, parked and set up our tents and then set off down a fire trail to a nearby lookout. It was a good spot overlooking the gorge of Carne Creek. We climbed various pagodas to get different views.

It was a great spot, and we stayed at the lookout until dusk. Then we headed back up to our campsite and had a pleasant time sitting around a warm fire.

Next morning, I got up for sunrise and made my way down to the lookout. The dawn turned out to be pretty poor. No mist or nice atmospheric conditions.

Frost

Back at the campsite, we packed up, and then after a short drive along another fire road, we did another short walk down to a different lookout. This one was to point overlooking Carne Gorge known as Lurline Jack Lookout.
