Birds at Nurragingy Reserve – 19 September 2019

The weather forecast was for showers, but I was keen to get outdoors, so after consulting the weather radar, I jumped on a train to Doonside and then spent a pleasant day at Nurragingy Reserve. It did rain, quite heavily, but only for about twenty minutes, and I sat in a shelter and waited for it to stop.

The birds were a bit quiet compared to some previous visits, but there are always some nice birds to be found. Most of the interesting birds I found along the perimeter fire road which I visited three times during my stay.

One bird, that I had not photographed before was a Noisy Friarbird. I was please to spot two of them that stared around long enough for some photos.

Here are some of the other birds –

Olive-backed Oriole

Brown Thornbill

Crested Shrike-tit

Black-faced Cuckooshrike

Grey Butcherbird

Australasian Grebe

Little Pied Cormorant

Australian Wood Duck

Eurasian Coot

Little Correllas

Superb Fairywren

Eastern Long-necked Turtle

Another nice visit to this reserve.
