Cycling and Bird Photography at Sydney Olympic Park – 22 September 2019

This was a very pleasant day spent with friends John and Chuin Nee and their young sons Jasper and Seby riding around the cycle tracks at the Sydney Olympic Parklands.

I rode there along the Cooks River Cycleway, and on the way stopped off at Mason Park, to check out the birdlife. There were quite a few Pied Stilts and I also spotted two Black-fronted Dotterels –

I then headed to the pools at Bicentennial Park where I met the others. We did some bird watching, and looked at the wrecks, then went to Wentworth Common and rode up the spiral path to the top of a hill with nice views of the parklands.

We then continued on to Newington Armory and stopped at the cafe on the waterfront for a nice lunch. We then rode back along the coastal cycleway back to Bicentennial Park. There I farewelled the others who had to attend an event later that afternoon. I spent another hour or so in the park photographing more of the birds. Here are some photographs from the day –

And it was a warm day, so some lizards were out.
