Malabar Headland – 29 November 2019

After the incredible display of flying, put on by the Peregrine falcons and Sea Eagles that I had had the privilege of observing on my previous visit, I was keen on a repeat performance. However, this visit turned out a lot quieter. It was a hot day, with almost no wind and the birds were not keen to fly.

Golden-headed Cisticola

It was fairly quiet as I walked out to Boora Point.

I only spotted one Peregrine Falcons. One of the three juveniles.

It was perched on a roof of a concrete structure and it allowed me to get some good photos of it perched there, and as it eventually took off.

And then some nice flying –

And that was all – I saw no more of these birds during the day. And I saw very few other birds. Here are a pair of New Holland Honeyeaters

A Common Blackbird

I left soon after lunch. It was still quiet at Magic Point. The best bird of the day was probably the resident Golden-headed Cisticola that is often near the park entrance gate. If you hear the bird, it is often well worth waiting for it to fly closer. It seems to make a regular series of visits around its territory making calls of ownership.
