Bundeena to Marley Photo Walk – 2 December 2019

I joined a National Parks Association walk led by Brian Everingham from Bundeena along the Coastal Track to Marley Head and back. It was a walk with plenty of time for photography and the plan was to get back by lunchtime.

As well as Brian and myself, there was Sue B, Sue W, Ken, John, Allen and Gary in the party. Most of us carried cameras.

We walked from the carpark to The Balconies to be greeted by the stunning coastal cliffs – but they were shrouded by a pall of bushfire smoke. We had these hazy conditions all day (and many days before and after).

We stopped many times to take photos on our way to The Waterrun – where we stopped for morning tea and a few more photos.

Some Tree Martins were flying around above us after insects.

We then carried on south to our next stop – the White Slab (Wedding Cake Rock). On the way is some nice heath and some more beautiful rock formations on the clifftops.

It seems to be now tilting, and a new fence has been constructed to keep Instagrammers from the slab.

From there it was not far to Marley Head. Here there are fine view of Marley Beach and Lagoon and the cliffs to the south.

Looking down, some in the party that had arrived first were lucky to observe a pod of Dolphins.

We also visited some interesting Aboriginal engravings.

There was also some very beautiful artwork due to Nature – beautiful wind eroded sandstone.

Then we started walking back towards Bundeena. More stops along the way – this time, mainly, to photograph birds.

One last photo – with Ken and Allen photographing.

We then headed to the Community Club at Bundeena for lunch. Thanks to Brain for organising and leading an excellent walk.
