This was another hot day. I spent the morning and early afternoon at Bicentennial Park (and Sydney Olympic Park) photographing the birds before it got too hot.
It was quite smokey, which didn’t help with photography. Photos are a bit washed out. I started at the Wetland Pools, then walked out to the Shipwreck Lookout, then to Wentworth Common and the Brickpit, then back along the Wetland Pools and finished at Lake Belvedere, where I had lunch.
White-faced Heron
Fairy Martins
Superb Fairy-wrens
Teals
Red-necked Avocets
White-bellied Sea Eagle
When i saw all the teals and Avocets suddenly take-off. I looked up for raptors, and sure enough spotted a Sea Eagle circling high overhead. I was hazy shooting through the smoke.
Red-kneed Dotterel
The first time I have been able to get relatively close to these Dotterels.
White-plumed Honeyeater
Sharp-tailed Sandpipers
Very distant.
Pied Stilts
New Holland Honeyeater
Grey Butcherbird
Brown Quail
These were in Wentworth Common, near where I have seen them before. I spotted two, and here are photos of the second, before it scuttled quickly into the vegetation.
