On my way home from Nurragingy Reserve, I stopped off again at Sydney Park at St Peters. Like on previous visits I was on the lookout for Rails, Crakes and Snipes. And like on those visits, I ended up taking lots of photos of Welcome Swallows.
Here are some sequences –
In this sequence, the Welcome Swallow spots an insect on the surface of the water, it swoops down and grabsit.
Note, that just after the insect is grabbed , the Swallow rotates its head and expels some water.
In this next sequence, there are two Swallows. One grabs and insect.
Another Swallow in flight –
Another sequence – single Swallow grabbing an insect –
More Swallows in flight –
And Swallows resting –
Some of the other birds –
Little Pied Cormorant
Australian Reed Warbler
And a few more Welcome Swallows –
