Fungi and Birds – Terrys Creek and the Lane Cove River – 21 March 2020

This was an interesting walk from Eastwood Station to Macquarie Park Metro Station via Terrys Creek and the Lane Cove River. I was on the lookout for fungi and all any birds I saw along the way.

Here is some fungi from along Terrys Creek –

I only spotted one small cluster of Waxcaps –

And another interesting fungus that I found was this large weeping polypore at the base of an Angophora costata tree. I think it is Inonotus albertinii

I also found a few slime moulds –

Along the Lane Cove River, I spotted a few Lichenomphalia chromacea growing close to lichen.

I also found small patch of Thelophora sp. –

I had forgotten how small these are. Each of these was probably about 2 cm across. Nearby were some Sundews –

The other notable fungus that I found was a light blue spine fungus that is probably Hydnellum fraudulentum

This was growing in almost the same place (2 m away) that I had seen it growing last season (and earlier years).

Here is some more fungi from the Lane Cove River –

And some birds. A Brown Thornbill, an Eastern Spinebill, an Eastern Yellow Robin and a Golden Whistler –
