Wolli Creek Nature Walk – 21 June 2020

Time to have a wander along Wolli Ck and see what is out – fungi, birds and orchids.

I started off at the Bexley North end of the Two Valleys Track and went down a little way past Turrella Reserve. A short way down the track I came across a nice cluster of waxcaps. They were Hygrocybe batesii

Further down the track, here are some Mycena growing on the end of a log –

I reached the area where on previous recent trips I had seen a lot of waxcaps. Would they still be out? Some of them were. Here are some Hygrocybe austropratensis

I found one, rather poor, specimen of he orange – yellow waxcaps that had been seen here earlier –

And there were some corals – Clavulionopsis amoena

After a lot of looking, I located one Hygrocybe aurantipes

And the Hygrocybe cheelii were almost all gone. Here is one of the better ones –

And a few more Hygrocybe austropratensis

And now for a few birds along this section. A Red-browed Finch, a Grey Fantail and a Spotted Pardalote –

Some Nodding Greenhood Orchids were out –

Lower down at the climbing area, I spotted some coral – Clavulinopsis fusiformis

And some Hygrocybe virginea

I continued downstream. Below Turrella Reserve, in the area below the old quarry, I looked around for waxcaps. It looks like this lower area is finally starting to come good. Here is a nice Gliophorus graminicolor

I think this is Hygrocybe collucera

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Some more Gliophorus graminicolor –

More corals, a Ramariopsis crocea

And I think this is Ramariopsis simplex

And a few more waxcaps, the rare Hygrocybe griseoramosa

And some black clubs were starting to appear. Geoglossum sp. –
