I spent the morning at Ferndale Park at Chatswood looking at the fungi. Afterwards, I kept on walking down the track to the Lane Cove River, followed it downstream and observed the Osprey nest. I will put up a separate post about that.
The fungi at Ferndale Park was reasonable. A bit of hunting was needed to find the interesting ones. Here is selection of the waxcaps that I found –
Gliophorus graminicolor
Hygrocybe leucogloea
Hygrocybe anomola var. anomola
Humidicutis sp. (The Ferndale Park Green-Pink Waxcap)
I am not sure of the id of the one below. The gills look more green than yellow. So it may be Humidicutis helicoides.
Hygrocybe erythrocrenata
Hygrocybe sp.
This one is perhaps Hygrocybe cantherellus –
Hygrocybe sp.
Hygrocybe griseoramosa
Gliophorus chromolimoneus
Gliophorus viscidibrunnea
Perhaps Hygrocybe erythrocala –
The next set are Camarophyllopsis sp. At present they have not been described. They seem to occur at Ferndale Park in the moss near some of the tree roots. They are found in similar habitat at Bola Ck and Lane Cove Bushland Park.
The genus Camarophyllopsis may not at present be in the family Hygrophoraceae. But members have many waxcap features such as wide spaced gills.
Amongst the other fungi that I saw, some of the corals were interesting. The photo below shows some Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea.
Now look at the next two photos and the first one in this post. What are the rainbow coloured clubs? I have not seen anything like them in any field guide. I suspect they are also Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea, but they have become infected with another fungus and that has brought out the colour change. More observations are needed.
Here is some Ramariopsis crocea –
And some Geoglossum viride still remains –
And lastly, an Entoloma sp.
