Greenway Bird Survey – 24 October 2020

I spent a pleasant morning with the Greenway Bird Group (part of the Inner West Environment Group) surveying the birds along the Greenway in the area near Waratah Mills.

It had been raining overnight but the rain held off while we were surveying. One feature of this survey was the number of Red Wattlebirds we spotted. Here are some –

The first one was looking a little wet.

This one is after an insect.

Here are some Superb Fairy-wrens

Here is a Pacific Koel

Silvereyes

New Holland Honeyeaters

And a Sparrow

When the survey finished and the group broke up, I walked towards home with Michael and Fiona, who diverted from their route to show me a Tawny Frogmouth nesting on top of en electrical box. Their nest is very close to one of the local schools.

Its asleep, but it seems to wake up when this insect flies close.
