Fungi of the Lane Cove River and Terrys Creek – 5 March 2021

I wanted to see if any fungi was out along the Lane Cove River, so decided to walk from Thornleigh to the river, and then downstream to Browns Waterhole and then up Terrys Creek to Eastwood. On the way, I did find some nice fungi and slime moulds.

Here is some of what I found –

Boletellus ananiceps

Russula rosea

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Cantherellus concinnus

Slime Mould – Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa

Amanita sp.

Russula lenkunya

Sanguinoderma rude

Rimbachia cf. bryophila

Gyroporus naranjus

Boletellus empdensis

Inonotus albertinii

Clavaria sp.

This is likely to be the same pink coral fungus found a few years ago by the late Liz Kabanoff at Birdwood Gully at Springwood. No one seems to know what it is. Last season Jenny Styles found what looks to be the same species at Terrys Ck. At probably this site. It seems to grow in a tight cluster and be simply branched. It is also fragile – it seems to break easily. I have not seen it in Birdwood Gully so far this year – but it could appear soon.

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Slime Mould – Arcyria sp.

Slime Mould

Bolete

Unknown

Inonotus albertinii

Hypoxylon bovei

Slime Mould – Arcyria sp.

Slime Mould – Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa

Slime Mould – Arcyria sp.

Slime Mould – Stemonitis axifera

Bactridium flavum

Slime Mould – Stemonitis axifera

Omphalotus nidiformis

Perhaps Leucopaxillus eucalyptorium?

Thanks to Roy Halling for Bolete identifications.
