Birds at Lugarno – 26 March 2021

I had never been to the bush at Lugarno, and thought it about time to make a visit. I had joined Digi Dave and Roger from lunch, and after we finished, Roger headed home to work, and myself and Digi Dave decided to visit the Blackbutt Track and H V Evatt Park at Lugarno.

It turned out to be an interesting visit. The first bird I spotted was an Australian Owlet-Nightjar. This one had a rufous morph. The bird was roosting in a hollow on the Blackbutt Track.

The track took us to H V Evatt Park. In some of the trees were a lot of Scaly-breasted Lorikeets.

And with them were some Musk Lorikeets.

The park has a large pond, and near the foreshore was a large Water Dragon.

We then made our way back along the Blackbutt Track. Here are some more birds – first a King Parrot

And then a Grey Fantail and a Rufous Fantail

And one of the many Sulphur-crested Cockatoos

It had certainly been an interesting afternoon. The Blackbutt Trail traverses a nice section of bush on Georges River National Park. Thanks to Digi Dave for driving.
