Australian Museum Visit – 23 May 2021

My friend Wendy invited my to join her on a visit to the Australian Museum in Sydney. I had visited the museum, not that long ago,  but there was a new exhibition to visit – “Unsettled” on the Aboriginal history of Australian when Europeans arrived.

After being entertained by an Aboriginal Dance performance, we visited the Aboriginal Gallery and then the Pacific Island Gallery. In this gallery I took some photos of the masks.

It is an interesting contrast to compare these masks with the masks many of us have been wearing here recently.

We then visited the bird gallery, and then went dow to the Unsettled Exhibition. It told the story of the Aboriginals after Europeans arrived and settled. It was told, refreshingly from an Aboriginal viewpoint. There was a lot to read and digest.
