Day 6 of lockdown. On this day, my exercise was a walk down Wolli Creek from Bexley North to Tempe and then back up the Cooks River to home. I caught a visually empty bus to the start. On the way I was on the lookout for fungi, orchids and birds.
I had a very pleasant walk, despite there being a lot of other people all the way along the Two Valleys Track. The Wolli Ck part was not too crowded, but the Cooks River path was quite congested.
All the way along Wolli Creek I found a fair amount of fungi out. A lot was reasonably close to the track. Here is some I saw –
Cortinarius phalarus –
Hygrocybe austropratensis –
Gliophorus graminicolor –
Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea –
Cortinarius rotundisporus –
Hygrocybe virginea –
Clavulinopsis amoena –
Clavulinopsis depokensis –
Perhaps Clavaria pusio –
Perhaps Cortinarius sp. –
Entoloma sp. –
Hygrocybe sp. (Perhaps Hygrocybe collucera)
Clavulinopsis sulcata –
Hygrocybe griseoramosa –
Here is a close up showing the complex branching gills –
Gliophorus graminicolor –
Hygrocybe sp.
The above species is one that seems to be undescribed. I have found it growing at Sassafras Gully at Springwood and at Wolli Ck.
Gliophorus chromolimoneus –
This one, perhaps may be Hygrocybe pseudograminicolor –
Clavulina cinerea –
Clavaria tenuipes –
Cruentomycena viscidocruenta –
And now fro some orchids, the same species as I saw on my previous walk down the valley. There were a lot out.
Pterostylis nutans –
Pterostylis concinna –
Now for some of the birds I saw along the way. First, at Illoura, there were a lot of Red-browed Finches –
Silvereye –
Grey Fantails –
Eastern Yellow Robins –
Laughing Kookaburra –
At Turrella Reserve, I saw a raptor fly over. It was very distant. I think it is a Brown Goshawk.
Where the large sewer pipes cross W olli Creek, I had a look at what looked like an old mine shaft. I think it was built to drain water when the sewer pipes were placed.
At Waterworth Park near Tempe, I saw a pair of Galahs feeding on the grass .
I looked for birds along the Cooks River, but all I photographed was this Little Pied Cormorant near Gough Whitlam Park.
