Cooks River and Barton Park Bike Ride – 14 August 2021

Day 49 of lockdown. A repeat of an exercise bike ride down the Cooks River to Tempe then further along to Barton Park and back. Again – a few bird photos on the way.

On the way down the Cooks River, I spotted a Sacred Kingfisher perched on a tree overlooking the River a short way downstream of Illawarra Road. So I stopped for a few photos –

Next stop was at Barton Park, where I first went to Landing Lights Wetland. Here are some of the birds I saw –

Yellow Thornbill

White-faced Heron

Pied Stilts

I think there is some courtship going on here –

And perhaps an unsuccessful attempt at mating? Here is some more –

And another unsuccessful attempt at mating. More of the stilts –

Now up at the top area of Barton Park. There are always a few Willie Wagtails.

And some Red-browed Finches

A Yellow-rumped Thornbill

After this I cycled home. I looked for more Kingfishers without any luck.
