Greenway Bird Survey – Taverners Hill to Hawthorne – 13 October 2021

With the end of the lockdown, the Greenway Bird Surveys have resumed with a larger group. But the weather on the morning was not the best, and we finished off early due to rain.

Here are some of the birds we saw.

Red Wattlebird

Superb fairy-wren

Pied Currawong

I don’t know what the Currawong was trying to peck out from the crack.  The Currawong below is sitting on a nest.

At Marion Street, we often see this Rock Dove inside the pipe.

Last survey, we had seen a pair of White-faced Heron chicks in a nest. They have grown too large for the nest but have not yet fledged.

And in the same tree was a Noisy Miner nest –

And these Australian Ravens look like the have learned to unscrew the cap off a bottle.
