Nepean River Birds – 3 November 2021

I spent a nice day out at Penrith on the Nepean River near the weir photographing birds.

Here are some of the birds I saw –

Azure Kingfishers

I later spotted another further along the river.

Sacred Kingfishers

Laughing Kookaburra

Little Black Cormorant

Australasian Darters

Little Pied Cormorant

New Holland Honeyeaters

Restless Flycatchers

Willie Wagtails

Satin Bowerbirds

Dusky Woodswallows

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Red-browed Finches

The above is a display of courtship.

Crested Shrike-tit

This bird was spotted by another bird photographer, part of a family group that visited the area. Thanks to her for pointing it out.

Eastern Spinebill

Rufous Whistler

Golden Whistler

Red-rumped Parrots

Common Blackbird

Bell Miners

As I was leaving the Reserve, I noticed some white bird poo on the path, and looked up in the tree above. I spotted a nest with two dead Noisy Miners hanging down. Strange.

It had been a nice visit.
