In the morning I had taken part in a local bird survey, but I was keen to get out again, so in the afternoon I cycled along the Cooks River out to Barton Park and back. And I took my camera.
Along the Cooks River, I stopped to look at a Striated Heron nest that I had seen before. It looked much the same with an adult sitting on the nest.
At Barton Park, I first visited the Landing Lights Wetland. Here are some Pied Stilts –
One seemed to be stalking another –
Some of the other birds. A White-faced Heron –
A Chestnut Teal –
Fairy Martin
Welcome Swallows
Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike
Around the back of the wetlands there seemed to be a creche of juvenile Pied Stilts –
But amongst them was single Black-fronted Dotterel –
Up in the higher area, I photographed this Tawny Grassbird –
