This was for me an unusual trip – a visit to a church to take some photographs for an old friend, Keith. He was after some photos of some items displayed inside the church for publication he is working on and had obtained permission for this from the church authorities.
So I met up with Keith at North Sydney and I set up my tripod inside the church and took series of photos. After this I took a few photos of the outside.
The church, St Thomas’ Anglican Church, is a beautiful old sandstone building designed by Edmund Blacket. One part of the church was never completed – a spire and bell tower. You can see the base for this on the left in the top photo.
I wondered if the architect, Edmund Blacket was related to the famous physicist, Patrick Blackett. Later at home I found that despite a minor difference in the spelling of their surname, Edmund was Patrick’s great uncle.
