Wolli Creek and Cooks River Walk – 16 Apr 2022

It had been a while since I had walked down the Two Valleys Track along Wolli Creek and I thought it would be good to see what fungi was out. So I caught a bus to Bexley North and set off along the track.

The fungi turned out to be quite poor. I was carrying a camera and tripod to photograph any interesting fungi that I spotted, but did not use it. So I instead concentrated on birds.

But the first interesting thing I spotted was a Red Triangle Slug

And here is some Jelly Fungus

And now for some of thee birds.

New Holland Honeyeater

Red-browed Finches

Rufous Whistler

Grey Fantail

Eastern Yellow Robin

White-browed Scrubwren

Here is a Grey Butcherbird with an insect.

In Waterworth Park, I photograph these squabbling Ravens.

I stopped there for lunch, then made my way up the Cooks River. I looked out for Tawny Frogmouths but did not spot any at Gough Whitlam Park or on Princess St.

Here are some Rainbow Lorikeets checking out a hollow –

And a Pied Cormorant fishing in the river.

This had been a nice walk. Fairly quiet and with very little fungi, despite the track being very wet in places.

Hi David! I was wondering if I could get your permission to use your photography as reference images to create and base my illustrations off for one of my university design projects? (crediting your work as a reference as well) Your pictures are amazing and truly capture the beauty and biodiversity of the Cook’s river, which is what my project focuses on! 🙂

Thanks and looking forward to hearing back from you,
    Sophia
