Fungi at Philosophers Falls – 5 May 2022

The day before’s trip to Ferndene had been a warm up trip for our visit to Philosophers Falls near Waratah. The fungi was amazing – both in variety and abundance.

There was so much fungi to see that we didn’t even make the waterfall this visit. Here is a range of what we spotted. I will start with the waxcaps

Gliophorus chromolimoneus

Hygrocybe sp.

Porpolomopsis lewiliniae

Hygrocybe sp.

This species is short, with a red conical or rounded cap, and a distinctive thick yellow stipe. Here are some more –

Hygrocybe firma

Hygrocybe sp. – Perhaps Hygrocybe collucera –

Hygrocybe lilaceolamellata

Gliophorus graminicolor

Hygrocybe astatogala

Hygrocybe rodwayi

Hygrocybe batesii

Hygrocybe sp.

Hygrocybe apricosa

Hygrophorus mavis

Hygrophorus involutus

And now for some of the corals –

Clavulina subrugosa

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Clavulinopsis amoena

Ramaria sp.

Some of the other fungi –

Mycena aff. epipterygia

Mycena interrupta

Mycena toyerlaricola

Entoloma viridomarginatum

Entoloma sp.

Austroboletus lacunosus

Russula sp.

Hypholoma fasiculare

Pholiota malicola

Calocera sp.

Jelly Fungus

Perhaps Dacrymyces cupularis
