Vale – Chris Collier

An old friend, Chris Collier,  passed away recently. He died after a long illness on 19 May 2022. Over a period of years, I did many trips with Chris and his partner Clare – mostly canyons or mountain biking trips. Some were both – mountain biking out to visit remote canyons.

He was a fine person. Thoughtful, considerate and kind. Always cheerful. A good person to call a friend. A good person to do trips with.

As well as our outdoor adventures, we also had series of video evenings where we would watch movies and videos. These were mostly during the years Chris and Clare lived nearby at Petersham.

Chris and Clare

It was in the outdoors that we shared our passions. Visiting many Blue Mountains Canyons and bushwalks. But Chris’s greatest passion was mountain biking. I can remember many trips to the Blue Mountains, Menai, Kentlyn, Appin and the Great North Road. Chris liked doing gnarly singletracks the most, and his passion was so great that he and Clare moved to Tasmania to be near the trails of Derby.

It is sad to see Chris pass away far too young. Condolences to Clare and his family.

Hi David. I’m so sorry to hear that Chris has passed.

I have kept in touch for some years
After working with Chris, up until
    Quite recently.

He was a good man with a good heart.

I lost contact around April and
Things were not sounding great for him.

    My condolences David.
