Birds at Sydney Park and Barton Park – 13 July 2022

After the Greenway Bird Survey, I travelled to Sydney Park where I met up with Sue. I wanted to show her the Pacific Baza but despite a lot of looking, and listening, we could not find it. So we then travelled down to Barton Park to see what birds were there. We had a very pleasant day out.

Here is a selection of photos from each of the parks.

Barton Park

Grey Goshawk

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Osprey

We were having our lunch at the end of the Spring St Canal, when we saw an Osprey flying up Muddy Creek with a nice fish.

We followed it up to where it landed.

I think the Silver Gulls wanted a bit of the fish rather than wanting the osprey to leave.

Back at the end of the Spring St Canal, a Striated Heron was hunting.

Red-browed Finch

White-faced Heron

And it got a shock when the Striated Heron landed nearby.

We visited Landing Lights Wetland, but it was very quiet.
