Wattamolla Walk 18 July 2022

It was nice to join Brian Everingham and others in the National Parks Association of NSW for a very pleasant walk in Royal National Park. In the party were Brian, Ross, John, Valerie, Sue, Deb, Suzanne, Lydia and myself. The weather was fine.

After meeting at the carpark, we headed down to the lower area and checked out the flood damage to the fence above the lagoon. On the way we saw this Grey Butcherbird

Wattamolla Falls were flowing nicely.

We then walked to Providential Point, where we looked for whales and Sea Eagles with no luck.

Continuing south we saw the usual New Holland Honeyeaters

We went up Curracurrang Creek to a large overhang that has a midden –

And nearby are Curracurrang Falls

We went back down to the coastal track and had lunch in the warm sun of the cove. Then Brian and most of the party headed back. Valerie, Deb and myself continued south to a nice lookout where we looked for whales. We did spot some breaching but they were not very close.

And here is a passing Gannet

On the walk back, we spotted a pair of Brown Quail

And there were some Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos at the top of the dyke.

A very pleasant day out. Thanks to Brain for organising and also to Valerie for a lift down and back.
