Birds and Bats – Wolli Ck and Cooks River – 30 July 2022

After the fungal survey, I decided to walk home via the Two Valleys Track – from Girrahween Park on Wolli Ck – to Waterworth Park, at the junction of the Cooks River, then I walked up the Cooks River to near Wardell Road.

Quite a few birds were out, and in particular, I had a good time watching a Sacred Kingfisher hunting for food on the Cooks River.

Tawny Frogmouth

One of the people on the fungal survey spotted this Tawny Frogmouth at Girrahween Park near the picnic area.

Grey-headed Flying Foxes

White-browed Scrubwren

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Red-browed Finches

Now we are along the Cooks River.

Galahs

Little Pied Cormorant

Sacred Kingfisher

King Parrot

Australasian Figbird

Eastern Rosella

Tawny Frogmouths

The pair above were in Marrickville Golf Course. The pair below were in the Dibble St Waterhole.

This was a very pleasant and interesting walk.
