Wattamolla to Marley Walk – 1 August 2022

This was another excellent day spent in Royal National Park. I had once again joined Brian Everingham for the walk he was leading for the National Parks Association of NSW. We walked along the Coastal Track from Wattamolla to Little Marley Beach and back the same way.

In the party were Brian, Valerie, Sue, Suzanne, Deb, Alison, Jane, Gary, Sheryl and Deo. We enjoyed fabulous weather.

The wildflowers were staring to appear –

And the heath was looking good –

We heard a flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos enjoying the Casuarina seeds. Here is one –

At the cliffs, we soon found the Aboriginal art –

And there are several sets of Aboriginal sharpening grooves –

This Water Skink enjoyed the warm sun.

And we could see a distant Peregrine Falcon

I love the eroded sandstone along trisection of the cliffs.

Brian looked up and saw the large flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos

Willie Wagtail

We found a nice spot at Little Marley Beach to have an early lunch.

Pelican –

We walked back the same way. Its very scenic and worth seeing again.

And here is a New Holland Honeyeater grabbing insects –

On the cliffs, we spotted a Australian Rock Warbler

It seemed to be pinching insects from the spider.

Native Iris –

New Holland Honeyeater

Little Wattlebird

Wattamolla Dam –

Thanks to Brian for leading the way, and to Valerie for a lift down and back.
