Mudlarks Cooks River Bird Survey – 11 October 2022

An early start and a walk down to the Cooks River at the Lang Street Bridge  to meet the Mudlarks at 7 am for their monthly bird survey. This month, the group surveyed downstream.

Magpie Lark on nest.

Olive-backed Oriole

Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike

Tawny Frogmouth on nest – Marrickville Golf Course

Dusky Moorhen – seen in the Dibble St Waterhole.

Some of the members of the group told me about a nesting Tawny Frogmouth  they had seen a few days before at Ewen Park, so after morning tea I went and had a look for it. I eventually spotted it,and also saw this Grey Butcherbird
