Heritage Walk – 26 October 2022

Bob and myself had decided to do another heritage bushwalking trip in the norther parts of Sydney. We were looking for an old trig station and we also hoped to see some Aboriginal sites.

We soon found the old trig station. It lay a short way off from a fire road. But you could not see it from the road due to thick scrub.

On the walk out – we saw a nice Goanna

we followed the fire road out a fair way further, and then along an old branch trail. At the end we had filtered views.

Here is some Bauera rubioides

We arrived at a large open rock outcrop and here we could see a lot of very faint Aboriginal engravings. There was a huge spirit figure and a lot of human male engravings and also a number of shields.

This is part of the large spirit figure –

The next two photos show human male figures –

And another shield –

We explored the area bit more.

And we checked out another open rocky area at a creek-bed but did not find any art or sharpening grooves.

And then it was back to Bob’s car.
