A hot day was forecast, so Bob and myself decided to do a fairly easy walk to look for some Aboriginal art sites in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
We had been in this part of the park on a previous walk, but had failed then to find an engraving of a Bandicoot. This time we were successful.
We walked along a fire road, then descended through some scrub along a ridge towards where we thought the art could be located.
It was not too hard to locate.
Bob thought this area may have once been an Aboriginal well. It was now full of dirt and other debris.
Perhaps there is a very faint engraving here –
I took a few more photos of the main engravings and applied the iDStretch app on my phone. I think it made them a bit clearer.
I think the software does a better job on this one –
After lunch, I was feeling a bit fatigued in the hot conditions, so I didn’t go with Bob to look for another art site in the area. Bob had to battle a bit of scrub – but found an open rocky area in a creekbed that had lots of sharpening grooves and some engravings of fish and a man like figure.
Here are two of Bob’s photos. The first shows some sharpening grooves along the edge of a pool –
This one shows some engravings –
