After seeing some interesting birds along the Hawthorne Canal on the bird survey three day earlier, I thought a morning trip could be worthwhile.
This time I caught the light rail to Marion St and started along the Greenway from there towards Hawthorne station. It turned out to be fairly quiet.
At Marion Street station, I spotted this White-faced Heron perched on a sewer vent.
There we’re quite a few small birds visible from the high level of the station – including this Superb Fairy-wren –
Lower down, I spotted this White-browed Scrubwren in the Richard Murden Reserve.
And here is one of many Superb Fairy-wrens –
No Sparrowhawks or Goshawks on my visit. I bumped into Michael, another bird photographer and I showed him the White-faced Heron nest –
