Birds at Sydney Park – 5 July 2023

I met up with Sue at Sydney Park and we walked around looking for birds. Near the entrance, close to St Peters Station, we heard the raucous calls of Lorikeets feeding in the trees. Some of them were Musk Lorikeets.

I had to wait a while for one of them to move to a better position.

Walking down towards the ponds, we spotted this White-faced Heron.

It had spotted something.

It had found a tasty skink.

A Royal Spoonbill was perched in the island of the Island Pond.

This was one of about 6 Australasian Grebes we spotted in the ponds –

Little Black Cormorant

We looked around for Tawny Frogmouths, but we could only spot a single one roosting in a tree near the southern entrance.

Thanks to Sue for great company during our visit to the park.
