Another nice day spent on Malabar Headland. I met Sue at Maroubra Beach and we walked out to look for the Peregrine Falcons. As far as the falcons were concerned it turned out to be a very quiet day – with only a glimpse of one as it flew by and landed on a ledge for a short time before flying off. But the other wildlife we saw was very good.
We sat on the cliffs and watched the passing Australasian Gannets.
Down in the sea just below us, we spotted a seal. It was hunting for fish.
And a passing Humpback Whale –
And some more whales –
Back to the seal. There was also a few jellyfish around.
Here the seal has a fish –
Then we spotted one of the Peregrine Falcons. It landed for a brief time on a ledge close to us.
Otherwise, it was very quiet for these birds.
Another whale –
And some Dolphins –
And we did spot some whales breeching, but only single breeches – so very hard to photograph.
Then we spotted a Swamp Harrier cruising around –
We then met up with fellow bird photographer Michael out on Boora Head. We watched some Australasian Gannets diving for fish –
And at least one seal was still around –
I had to leave early, and near the park entrance, I spotted a hovering Black-shouldered Kite.
