I was thinking of heading up to the Northern Beaches, but as it was a cool and windy day, I thought it may be more protected on malabar Headland, so headed out there to look for the Peregrine Falcons. This time I was by myself, and walked in from Malabar.
As visits go, this was a bit quiet. I only had fleeting glimpses of the male Peregrine Falcon, and saw little whale activity – the sea was very choppy due to the wind. But early on, I did see pod of Dolphins –
At one point, I saw a Peregrine Falcon fly past at high speed and then fly out over Magic Point.
It flew back and settled on the cliffs. It was the male.
I waited for it to take off.
It later landed further along the cliffs –
And then moved to another ledge.
A few Australasian Gannets were hunting for fish –
The Peregrine falcon was still at the same perch, but too far away to get a worthwhile take-off sequence, so I waited for it, hoping it would fly past. It did eventually.
Far out to sea, I spotted a few Black-browed Albatross. Here is one –
I walked back to Maroubra Beach, and near the park entrance, I spotted a hovering Black-shouldered Kite. It did not come close.
