I visited two places to photograph birds. First was a visit to Rookwood Necropolis, mainly to see the Brown Goshawk chicks again. Then on the way home, I got off the train at Canterbury and walked down the Cooks River to see the Tawny Frogmouths.
At Rookwood, as I was walking into the Necropolis, I could hear a Brown Goshawk calling. I soon spotted an adult bird perched in a pine tree.
The nest was not too faraway, and when I reached it and looked up, I could see the three Brown Goshawk chicks perched near the nest.
The two are not too far from the nest.
Then I heard the adult calling again, but this time it had moved to a different pine tree.
Back to the chicks, I could see some had moved a bit.
And another bird at the Necropolis – a Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike with a grasshopper or phasmid –
Now for some birds along the Cooks River. At the Boat Harbour – a Little Pied Cormorant –
And I soon spotted the Tawny Frogmouth family.
And nearby, as a result of the rain, was a slime mould growing on the grass –
And back to the Tawny Frogmouths –
On the boom, a Great Cormorant –
A Striated Heron was hunting for fish at the mouth of Cup and Saucer Creek –
At Cup and Saucer Creek Wetlands, an Olive-backed Oriole flew down –
In the ponds, here is an Australian Swamphen chick –
And a Dusky Moorhen with a chick –
This Noisy Miner has a small cicada –
A Willie Wagtail –
I could not spot the Tawny Frogmouths at Ewen Park. I looked on both sides of the River.
