I joined the Mudlarks for their monthly bird survey along the Cooks River. The group met up on the Lang Street Bridge at 7 am. This time the survey went downstream – to Wave Rock and back.
Here are some of the birds we saw –
Australasian Grebes
Rainbow Lorikeet
Welcome Swallow
Galah
Little Black Cormorant
Noisy Miners
Chestnut Teal
Australasian Figbird
Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike
Laughing Kookaburra
Tawny Frogmouth
Grey Butcherbird
Crested Pigeons
We then had a very pleasant morning tea at Ewen Park. Many thanks to Jennifer for organising this. And also to those who brought alongside Xmas goodies to share.
After morning tea, I joined Simin for a look at some nearby Tawny Frogmouths we had missed earlier. There was a family of five –
And after this, Simin and myself visited Rookwood Necropolis.
