I joined John and his two boys, Jasper and Sebastian, and also Vivienne a friend of Sebastians, for a day at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.
When we arrived and met up, we headed first to the HMAS Onslow – the submarine. A tour through this is very interesting, but if you leave it too late, then big queues can occur.
Here are the six torpedo tubes –
Sebastian is climbing up to look through the attack periscope –
Submarines seem to have a lot of gauges and valves –
Here is the Captain’s cabin –
We then visited the Destroyer, HMAS Vampire.
Then Sebastian, Vivienne and John headed off to the lego challenge. Jasp and myself went to the replica of HMB Endeavour.
We could see the famous Krait – used for command operations in WW2 –
Then a look inside –
I left Jasper and Sebastian with John in the Octopus Garden room –
