Sue joined me for a very pleasant day at Birdwood Gully at Springwood. The forecast was for a very hot day, so we headed up early and were soon in the cool rainforest of the valley.
We had a very pleasant time looking in the leaf litter for fungi, and we found some very nice ones.
Early off, we saw two of these large boletes – Phlebopus marginatus
Later, on the way out, they had both wilted a lot due to the heat.
As we continued down the track we found more –
Cantherellus concinnus
Boletellus sp.
Hygrocybe sp.
Wasp Orchid – Chiloglottis seminuda
Boletellus ananiceps
Hygrocybe sp.
Entoloma aff. virescens
Russula sp.
Clavulinopsis sulcata
Rimbachia cf. bryophila
Hygrocybe sp.
Slime Mould – Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa
Pseudohydnum gelatinosum
Dacrymyces cupularis
Slime Mould – Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa
Leucocoprinus lacrymans
Entoloma sp.
This is perhaps Phaeoclavulina abietina –
Phaeoclavulina ochracea
Clavaria sp.
Clavulinopsis sulcata
Ramaria sp.
Lactifluus flocktoniae
I am not sure what this is –
Porpolomopsis lewelliniae
Entoloma aff. virescens
And I am not sure what these are –
And this is a strange polypore that i have seen before in Birdwood Gully. It is very small.
Bolete
Wasp Orchid – Chiloglottis seminuda
And for some birds –
Thornbill
Rufous Fantail
Brown Gerygone
Brown Fantail
Brown Gerygone
As it was starting to get very hot, we decided to walk out in the early afternoon. Before catching our train home to the city, we visited the Royal Hotel for refreshments. Many thanks to Sue for great company and some good spotting.
