Barton Park and Cooks River Birds – 17 April 2024

This was another morning trip to photograph some local birds. This time I started at Barton Park, where it was fairly quiet, so I later stopped off at Cahill Park on the Cooks River to see if any Sacred Kingfishers were around.

When I arrived at Barton Park, I spotted a Heron flying off. I think it is a juvenile Nankeen Night Heron

The Landing Lights Wetland was very quiet. No Pied Stilts or Dotterels. Here is a White-faced Heron –

New Holland Honeyeater

Along the Spring St Canal, I spotted the Heron again. I think it is a juvenile Nankeen Night Heron

A few other birds –

Superb Fairy-wren

Royal Spoonbill

Back at Landing Lights Wetland, a Eurasian Coot

Chestnut Teals

Welcome Swallow

Cahill Park also proved to be fairly quiet. No Sacred Kingfishers. Here are some birds –

Little Pied Cormorant

Great Egret
