I joined Deb, Valerie and Sue for a very pleasant day walking around the Waterfall Walk on the south side of Lawson. We travelled up to Lawson by train, and after a coffee break at the Cakeshop, we were soon walking down to the start of the track.
The Autumn colours were out as we walked down the path along the side of Honour Avenue.
At the start of the track, we soon walked down to the first of the waterfalls – Adelina Falls.
I was looking around for fungi, and found some –
Tremella sp.
Plectania campylospora
And Deb had spotted an Eastern Yellow Robin –
We then continued along the track to the next set of waterfalls.
We passed more fungi –
Catherellus concinnus
And Deb spotted this orchid –
More Catherellus concinnus –
Russula lenkunya
The second set of waterfalls are called Junction Falls – where two creeks join. Each creek has its own waterfall.
Junction Falls (Ridge Creek)
Junction Falls (Lawson Creek)
Some more fungi –
Cyptotrama asprata
Clavulinopsis sulcata
Tylopilus aff. balloui
Clavulinopsis sulcata
We had now arrived at Federal Falls.
We found sunny spot at the base of the falls to have lunch. After lunch – Valerie wanted to climb this rock –
As we continued on the track, we spotted more fungi –
Russula persanguinea
And we saw this orchid – Cymbidium suave –
We visited a small cascade that is sometimes called Rosemarys Falls –
Entoloma sp.
Hypholoma sp.
The next waterfall is Cataract Falls. This has a lower and upper section both reached by side tracks.
Bolete – perhaps Boletellus badiovinosus
Here is the upper part of the falls –
At the Southern Carpark – we walked back via the fire road to the Northern Carpark.
Rickenella fibula
And then more Autumn colours as we walked back up Honour Avenue to the station.
