I travelled up to the the Blue Mountains again for a trip down Sassafras Gully at Springwood to see how the fungi was going. Everything was quite wet at Coachwood Glen the day before, but Springwood had experienced less rainfall, so perhaps the fungi would be reasonable? I did find a fair bit – but the fungi was not nearly as abundant or interesting as that which I found on my previous recent visits.
On this trip, I entered via the Sassafras Gully Road track, went as far as the Glenbrook Creek junction, then went out via the Wiggins Track.
Here is some of the fungi I found –
Hygrocybe sp.
This next one, I don’t know what it is. It was perhaps the most abundant fungus during my visit –
Hydnoplicata convoluta
Hydnoplicata convoluta is not a fungus that is seen too often. It has been good this season. This is the second one I have seen in Sassafras Gully this year, and I have also seen several nearby in Birdwood Gully.
Hygrocybe sp.
Hygrocybe rodwayi
Gliophorus sp.
Clavaria zollingeri
The one above looks a bit old and washed out. The one below is fresher –
Clavaria pusio
Cuphophyllus austropratensis
Ramariopsis pulchella
Oligoporus pelliculosus
Hygrocybe batesii
Hydnum repandum
Hygrocybe sp.
Hygrocybe sp.
Gliophorus graminicolor
Hygrophorus involutus
Hygrocybe sp.
Hygrocybe anomala
