I attended the field trip of the Sydney Fungal Studies Group at Coachwood Glen, on the Megalong Road near Blackheath. Conditions were a bit dry and fungal abundance was not huge, although we did find a wide range of fungi.
Here is some of the fungi (and slime moulds) that we found –
Gloioxanthomyces chromolimoneus

Descolia recedens

Lachnum sp.

Scutellinia scutellata

Entoloma sp.

Hygrocybe astatogala

Slime Mould – Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa

Hygrocybe sp.

Mycena interrupta

Ramaria sp.

Unknown –

Hygrocybe taekeri (in very poor condition)

Hymenoscyphus sp.

Entoloma sp.

Austropaxillus muelleri

This was the most interesting find of the day. It is a Cordyceps capitata type of fungus, growing off a truffle. Tolypocladium sp.

Here is a later photo showing the host truffle –

Cordyceps tenuipes

Clavulina subrugosa

Strobilomyces sp.

Cortinarius submagellanicus

Phaeoclavulina ochracea

Scutellinia scutellata

Amanita sp.

Mycena interrupta

Plectania campylospora

Ramaria sp.

Mushroom infected with a pin mould –

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Perhaps Clavaria sp.

Clavulina sp.

Unknown –

Jafnea pallida

Cyptotrama asprata

Unknown –

Perhaps Coprinellus disseminatus

Psilocybe subaeruginosa

Plectania campylospora

Slime Moulds –

Ophiocordyceps robertsii

Pezziza sp.

Slime Mould

Clavulina sp.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa

Plectania campylospora

Gliophorus sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Many thanks to Trevor and Kerry Millichamp for organising this field study and for a lift up and back from the mountains. Much appreciated!
