Birds at Barton Park and Sydney Park – 18 April 2025

I visited two venues to see what birds were around. First Barton Park, where I spent most of my time at Landing Lights Wetland, then caught a bus up to St Peters and visited Sydney Park.

Here is how the trip went.

When I walked down the Spring St Canal at Barton Park, I spotted this Little Black Cormorant –

There was a big school of small fish in the canal.

But the Cormorant was a bit too far upstream.

There  was also a foraging Royal Spoonbill

The was a very distant Brown Goshawk flying high overhead –

Some birds in the hinterland of Landing Lights Wetland –

Yellow Thornbill

Red-browed Finch

Superb Fairy-wren

Back at the Wetlands, there were plenty of Pied Stilts
