The Sydney Fungal Studies Group were holding a field study at Ferndale Park at Chatswood, which I was coordinating. After a week of rain, the weather on the Saturday was fine and sunny. There was a fair amount of fungi out, and we had an enthusiastic group of participants on the day.

Here is some of the fungi we found –
Probably Trogia sp.

Lactarius aff. piperatus

Lactarius eucalypti

Phaeoaphelaria sp.

Clavulina sp.

Tremella mesenterica

Perhaps Simocybe sp.

Here is an insect infected with a Cordyceps sp. fungus.

Helvella fibrosa

Stinkhorn “egg”, probably Phallus indusiatus –

Geoglossum sp.

Humidicutis helicoides

Gliophorus graminicolor

Humidicutis sp.

Clavulinopsis fusiformis

Lasiosphaeria ovina

Clavaria zollingeri

We found this large jelly fungus on a log. Perhaps Tremiscus helvelloides (Guepinia helvelloides) or similar?

Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea

Hygrocybe sp.

I am not sure what these are –

Microglossum viride

Thaxterogaster submagellanicus

Gliophorus viscidibrunnea

Leotia lubrica

Sarcodon sp.

Clavulinopsis amoena

Clavaria filicicola

Mycena subgalericulata

Clavulina coralloides

Some of the participants –
I would like to thank Nicholas Yu, the Natural Assets Officer of Willoughby Council for granting permission for the field study to go ahead. Also thanks to Pam O’Sullivan and Kerry and Trevor Millichamp for help with identifications. Much appreciated.
