Raptors and More at Malabar Headland – 11 June 2025

After the Greenway Bird Survey, I caught the light rail to the city, then changed to the other light rail to Juniors, then a bus to Maroubra Beach, where I met Sue, and then we headed out onto Malabar Headland. We had a very good day, with an excellent Osprey encounter on Magic Point.

As well as the osprey, we also observed the pair of Peregrine Falcons, and a seal, whales and some other birds.

Here are some photos –

The Osprey was perched in more or less the same spot as we had seen it on our previous visit. This time, it was trying to steal fish caught by fishermen.

After the Osprey flew out to sea, we walked out further on the headland, and spotted two Peregrine Falcons perched on the cliffs. Sarath, another bird photographed had been watching them for a while.

The first one, flew over closer to its mate.

Unfortunately, they stayed perched on the cliffs for a long time.

It was now time to head for home. It had been a very good day.
