I thought it was about time for another visit to Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside. Sue was keen to come along. It was a bit quieter than usual – perhaps due to cool weather? But we still saw some nice birds.

When we arrived, we first look at the duck ponds. Here is an Australasian Grebe –

A White-faced Heron was noting in one of the smaller ponds –

We then looked for Azure Kingfishers, but had no luck. We did spot an Eastern Yellow Robin –

There were some Galahs –

And we spotted two Tawny Frogmouths. Here is one –

Australian Wood Duck –

Silvereye

Grey Butcherbird

Little Pied Cormorant

The perimeter firetrail was relatively quiet, except for Bell Miners. But we did encounter a flock of Australasian Figbirds.

Back at the ponds.
Little Pied Cormorant

Satin Bowerbird

We also encountered a Swamp Wallaby –

I think this is the first Wallaby I have seen at the Reserve.
More Galahs –

This Satin Bowerbird looks quite colourful when flying –

Eastern Rosella

We went back to where we had seen the Tawny Frogmouths, and this time spotted a third one perched a bit higher in the same tree. Here are two of them –

Little Pied Cormorant

King Parrot

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

Little Black Cormorant

Here is the same Australasian Grebe we had seen earlier –

Little Pied Cormorant

Great Egret

Laughing Kookaburra

We had spent a lot of time looking along the ponds for Azure Kingfishers, and had not spotted any. Sue stayed at one of a pond, while I walked along the track next to it. I then spotted one –

It was perched in a good spot.

But it flew off before Sue could see it.
We left for home not too long after this.
