In the afternoon after the Greenway Bird Survey, I visited the Cooks River , the section from Illawarra Road to Gough Whitlam Park for some more birds photography.

Here are some of the birds I photographed –
Little Black Cormorant

Little Pied Cormorant

Sacred Kingfisher

Little Pied Cormorant

White-faced Heron

Great Egret

Eastern Rosella

Walking back upstream, I spotted three White-faced Herons in the mangroves. Two seemed to be displaying courtship behaviour.

My visit had been fairly short but quite interesting.
Hi, I have been following your website for a while, and I also followed your pace to shoot kingfishers near the cooks river, but I got almost nothing. Can you share your experience and shooting points?
Best regards
Their locations can vary from time to time. At present, on the true right of the river, downstream from the Illawarra Road bridge. Down as far as Wansted Reserve. Walk slowly – looking in the trees near the river to see them perched. Low tide is best. And walk slowly up and down.
I have visited that place several times, yet the kingfishers have not made an appearance. Perhaps they have relocated.
I have not seen them lately. Probably moved to their summer area?
