Another good day spent in the National Park out on Malabar Headland. This time I was joined by Sue and Valerie.

This time, near the park entrance at the south end of Maroubra Beach, we spotted a Nankeen Kestrel on the rocks near the sea.

That was a good start. We then made our way out to near Boora Point. At first we spotted no Peregrine Falcons. Then I saw one fly in and land on the cliffs.

It then flew off.
Sue had spotted a nice Blue-tonged Skink enjoying the warm Sun –

I spotted a Peregrine Falcon perched fairly high on the cliffs, and it was in a spot that I could get close to. I did not disturb the bird.

I waited to see if it would take off.

Eventually it did, but away from me.

I saw it fly further along the cliffs and it had been called by the female. They mated.

A few Humpback Whales were passing.

The female Peregrine Falcon was still perched in the same spot. But then it took off and disappeared.

I later saw both birds perched on the cliffs at a distant spot. By this time, Valerie had left, but Alana had arrived.

I could get a bit closer.

The female was eating. Perhaps the nearby male had given the food as a nuptial gift?

The female then took off.

The male had a few scraps of food.

And it too took off.

We spotted one of the Peregrines perched further along.

But it was time for us to head home. On the way we saw this rodent. Perhaps a native rat?

And we could hear some Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos, and just see one of them –

Lower down o the rock platform, a White-faced Heron –

And Alana spotted a seal –

I think this is an Osprey flying past –

And back in the carpark – a pair of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos –
