I joined Valerie and Sue for another visit to the sea cliffs at Kurnell, where we had recently seen some raptors.

We had a great day.
First, we spotted this Osprey perched on the clifftop –

It flew off, down and vanished. Perhaps it flew along the cliffs?
Below were these Sooty Oystercatchers –

Last visit, we had seen a number of Australian Pipits. We saw quite a few this visit too.

And the Peregrine Falcon chicks were certainly a lot larger and had lost their white downy feathers. But, we could only see two out of the three chicks.

A parent was on patrol nearby –

Further along the cliffs, we could see all three chicks. One was out of sight on a higher ledge from the previous vantage point.

We kept on walking along the cliffs. We spotted the Osprey –

And a Nankeen Kestrel flew after it. It was too close to the Kestrel’s nest.

Osprey

The Nankeen Kestrel resumed its hunting.

It returned with a grasshopper –

It delivered the food to the nest then did some more nice flying.

And then it landed nearby.

At this spot, we could see in the nest. On the right of the adult are a least two chicks –

An Australian Raven had come too close –

We then headed back to the Peregrine Falcon chicks.

A parent was nearby –

The parent did some nice fast flying along the cliffs. It looked like it was encouraging its chicks to start flying.

The juveniles did start flapping their wings.

I would expect these chicks to fledge very soon.
Many thanks to Valerie for driving out to Kurnell.
