Cooks River Birds – 8 April 2026

After the Greenway Bird Survey, I travelled to Tempe Station, where I met Sue, and then we walked slowly up the Cooks River to Canterbury Road. We stopped at Gough Whitlam Park where we had lunch.

Here are some of the birds we saw along the way.

Gret Egret

Olive-backed Oriole

Little Black Cormorant

Eastern Rosellas

Sacred Kingfisher

Willie Wagtail

Little Pied Cormorant

Sacred Kingfisher

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

Australasian Darter

From Illawarra Road to Canterbury Road, we did not spot too much. We saw a single Tawny Frogmouth at the Lesley Muir Reserve –
